PRISON MINISTRY
With over a decade of experience in the NC prison system we have made a tremendous impact while learning much about the system. We now equip churches to launch impactful prison ministries to do the same. From volunteer training to navigating prison culture, we provide the tools, guidance, and support for your ministry team to disciple incarcerated men and women. Your passion with our direction can help inmates to become devoted followers of Christ. Your church will experience that fulfilling Christ’s call to serve “the least of these” (Matthew 25:40) is incredibly life-giving.
…I was in prison and you came to visit me…
“After being sentenced to life, I wished to just fade away. I saw my life as a waste. God saw the beginnings of a restoration project.”
– Brother Tim
Serve Inside the Prisons with Our Support
We’ll help your church bring meaningful ministry within prison walls through opportunities like leading worship services, teaching Bible studies, and offering classes requested by prison program staff. You may also be able to organize special events such as concerts or holiday programs, distribute Christmas hygiene kits, goodie bags or meals, and sponsor appreciation lunches for chaplains and staff. With our guidance, your church can partner with existing prison ministries or start its own impactful outreach to serve incarcerated individuals.
“Your past does not dictate your future. Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.”
– Brother Larry
Serve Outside the Prisons with Confidence
Serving those impacted by incarceration doesn’t stop at the prison gates. We’ll equip your church to prepare hygiene and release kits, organize Bible and Christian book drives, sponsor an Angel Tree ministry, or host clothing drives for minimum-security facilities. A fantastic way to create a difference in an inmate’s life is mentorship through a pen pal ministry to provide encouragement and guidance as many begin their walk with Christ. We can help you collaborate with Local Reentry Councils and transition homes to help meet the needs of individuals reentering society. Whatever your church feels called to do, we’ll help you in every way we can.
“I helped lead a new Brother, Shane, to faith a couple weeks ago. The change in him is like nothing I’ve seen before actually.”
– Brother Eric
Start Your Prison Ministry Today
We guide churches through every step of prison ministry, from partnering with existing programs to starting a ministry at a nearby facility. Our support includes training volunteers in prison culture, building relationships with prison administration, and providing practical discipleship tools. Additionally, we offer an annual in-person sermon to inspire and mobilize your congregation to engage in this life-changing work serving Jesus.
“What you meant for evil, God worked for good. God has used prison to shape my character, train my skillset, and place me to help numerous others. So I say, “Thank you God for prison. Thank you God for the life sentence.”
– Brother Tim
Behind Enemy Lines
Get tough on crime! Declare war on drugs! Three strikes and you’re out! They’re great slogans on the campaign trail, but they miss the heart of the matter leaving crime to keep on thriving in our nation’s prisons. Is it possible that we soak up the “tough on crime” talk as a church because we’ve lost our way? We speak passionately about hating sin and loving the sinner, but our hatred of crime can cause us to falter and slip…into hating the criminal at times. Is it possible that between the lines of our love for the Lord, there lies a hidden unbelief in the transforming power of Jesus to radically change lives in prison settings?
A collection of simple narratives teeming with godly passion, vision, and inspiration, Behind Enemy Lines illustrates the gospel’s power to revolutionize lives and break through the darkness of the devil’s playground with the light of God’s love. These experiences are described by the prison residents themselves and taken from a newsletter written by and for them. While discipleship and Christian service are major pillars of the book, the hunger to live lives that honor Jesus among incarcerated believers makes an even deeper impact on the reader. Behind Enemy Lines leaves no doubt that God’s Spirit cannot be locked out of hungry hearts!
“Pastor Chuck Thompson has long been recognized as God’s gift to prison ministry in North Carolina, and his book Behind Enemy Lines: Truths, Tips and Testimonies from the Incarcerated is a powerful testament to his calling. This remarkable compilation of testimonies from prison residents serves as both an inspiration and a celebration of God’s transformative power. Through these stories of salvation, spiritual growth, and the steady walk of faith within the walls of correctional facilities, Pastor Chuck allows the testimonies of these men to highlight the boundless grace of our living and merciful God. Each testimony echoes the hope and freedom found in Christ, reminding readers that no heart is too far gone for redemption.
This book is a treasure for anyone passionate about the gospel and its power to change lives in even the darkest places. Pastor Chuck’s unwavering dedication to the incarcerated shines through every page, giving readers a glimpse of God’s love in action. Behind Enemy Lines not only uplifts and encourages but also challenges us to see the beauty of God’s work in the lives of those society often overlooks. It’s a must-read for anyone desiring to witness firsthand the greatness of God’s grace and the impact of faithful ministry behind prison walls.”
