Emergency Food Drive

Help Feed Our Neighbors in Crisis

Every Saturday, Carolina Care Center provides food and essentials to hundreds of families across our community — families who count on us to be there week after week. We are committed to ensuring that every guest who walks through our doors receives the food and care they expect, regardless of supply challenges.

Recently, that commitment has meant purchasing food directly when our shelves come up short. Over the past several weeks, we’ve used our own funds to buy bulk groceries — working with local grocery partners to secure affordable, high-quality options that supplement what we receive from the food bank.

But as the government shutdown continues and uncertainty grows over how long benefits and assistance programs will be delayed, the number of families needing help continues to rise — a 36% increase in just two weeks. Meanwhile, our food bank partners are receiving less funding and sending fewer shipments.

We want to stay proactive, keeping our shelves stocked and our guests cared for without depleting our emergency reserves. That’s where you come in.

Your support right now will help us continue meeting every need, every Saturday.

🍗 2. Donate to the Protein Fund

Protein is one of the hardest and most expensive items to keep stocked — and one of the most requested by families we serve.

Your donation to the Protein Fund helps us purchase affordable meat, eggs, and dairy from local grocery partners so every family receives nutritious food each week.

Every $25 helps us provide enough protein for a family for a week.

Why the Need Is So Urgent

  • 36% increase in families served in the last two weeks
  • Reduced food bank deliveries due to funding uncertainty
  • Delayed benefit programs increasing strain on families
  • Higher demand for protein and essential foods every Saturday
  • Increased need for purchased food to maintain consistent supply

We’re committed to ensuring every family who comes through our doors leaves with food and hope — but we need your help to sustain this work.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of food can I donate?

We gladly accept non-perishable, non-expired items that are easy to store and distribute. Canned goods, boxed dinners, pasta, rice, cereal, and peanut butter are all great choices. Please avoid items in glass jars if possible.

Do you accept hygiene or household items?

Yes! Families often go without basics like soap, toothpaste, deodorant, and feminine hygiene products. These are deeply appreciated and help preserve dignity and health during difficult times.

What if I can’t bring donations on Saturday mornings?

We’re happy to work around your schedule! Just email info@carolinacarecenter.org, and our team will coordinate a weekday drop-off or even arrange for pickup if needed for larger drives.

Can I organize a food drive at my church, business, or neighborhood?

Absolutely — and we encourage it! We can provide flyers, graphics, and even pickup support for large collections. Whether it’s 20 items or 200, every bit helps keep shelves stocked for families in need.

How is the Protein Fund used?

Every dollar goes directly toward purchasing fresh and refrigerated protein items — such as chicken, beef, eggs, and dairy — from local grocery partners at bulk rates. These items supplement what we receive from the food bank and ensure families get balanced nutrition.

Are donations tax-deductible?

Yes. Carolina Care Center is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. All financial and in-kind donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. We’re happy to provide receipts upon request.

How long will this emergency drive last?

We plan to continue the food drive through the duration of the shutdown and beyond as long as the need remains high. Your ongoing support ensures families have consistent access to food and care, no matter what happens next.

What if I want to volunteer?

That’s wonderful! We have ongoing volunteer opportunities on Saturday mornings and special events throughout the week. Email info@carolinacarecenter.org for details on how to serve.
